After trying to do some work on my store and talking with a few other etsyians I decided to add to Jeff Foxworthy's statments:

If it's cheaper to ship a parcel to someone in Japan than to your grandmother in the next province. You definately live in Canada!!

I was nothing short of amazed that it would be less expensive to ship something to someone in the UK or Florida than it would be to send something to my Grandmother in Nova Scotia Canada!! How crazy is that.
